Tokyo Vice Not Returning for Season 3 at Max
After two Seasons, Tokyo Vice (the crime drama, starring Ansel Elgort and Ken Watanabe) is cancelled. Loosely inspired by American journalist Jake Adelstein’s non-fiction, firsthand account of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police beat, Tokyo Vice, which was filmed on location, captured Adelstein’s (Elgort) daily descent into the neon-soaked underbelly of the city in the late ’90s, where nothing and no one is truly what or who they seem.
9-1-1: Lone Star
Sierra McClain, who has co-starred in all four seasons of the Fox procedural as 9-1-1 operator Grace, will not be returning for the upcoming (and much-delayed) fifth season. A spinoff of 9-1-1, Lone Star debuted on Fox in 2020, with Rob Lowe starring as Austin firefighter Owen Strand. Fox pushed Season 5 to this fall, where it will air Mondays at 8/7c.
True Detective’s John Hawkes will recur in Prime Video’s Criminal, based on the graphic novels by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillip. Previously announced cast includes Logan Browning (Dear White People), Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy), Kadeem Hardison (Teenage Bounty Hunters, A Different World), Adria Arjona (Hit Man, Andor) and Richard Jenkins (Monster, Six Feet Under).
The Upshaws Renewed for Final Season at Netflix
Season 4 (or “Part 6”) is set to debut with 10 episodes in early 2025. The Netflix comedy stars Mike Epps as Bennie Upshaw, a charming, well-intentioned mechanic and lifelong mess, living in Indianapolis with his wife, their two daughters, their one son together, and the other son he fathered with another woman. In addition to Epps, the series stars Kim Fields, Khali Spraggins, Journey Christine, Jermelle Simon, Diamond Lyons, Gabrielle Dennis and co-creator Wanda Sykes.
